GIMNIR'S BRUSH

Greetings, fellow painters!   Finished some time ago for a generous patron, this piece holds a special place in my heart, and today, I'm thrilled to share the story behind it. The journey began when the patron approached me with a desire for a miniature that could capture the magical essence of high elves. Intrigued and eager for a creative challenge, I accepted the task. What made this project even more enchanting was the patron's willingness to grant me almost total freedom in the creative process. Collaborating with someone who not only trusted my skills but also allowed our visions to seamlessly blend was a breath of fresh air. The result? Well, judge for yourself as you continue reading.   This is the first ever 3D printed miniature that I painted. The miniature that you see is from the Spanish Brand LastSword Miniatures . Just before I continue please bear in mind that I am not sponsored in any kind of way by them. When I was contacted for this commission I was quite nervous about the possible quality of the model and the quality loss due to printing. In the past I have had excellent renders losing a lot of quality after printing the model (but that was quite a while ago, probably approx 4 years-Technology has improved quite a lot). As you can see in the photos, some of the printing layers can be seen-This worried me a lot prior to do any painting-last thing you want is to see printing layers coming through once the miniature is finished. Once that the miniature was primed, the printing layers were barely noticeable which was a great relief.   Painted Tor Garadon as a little break from my traditional "gusto" for Fantasy miniatures. Very lovely miniature with a lot of character. I shaved the sides of his head to enhance the militaristic look of the mini. Regards

This is finally the mini unit of 5 for my friend´s Vampire count army. It has been a good exercise to get back to the habbit of painting. Any comments, criticism , feedback  always welcome! Best regards, Gimnir

Finally I dicided that the blue skin didn´t do the trick, so I went for the classic rotting flesh for these guys. The models are quite simple, nothing fancy about them. Soon the unit to be finished. Best regards, Gimnir

It has been a long time since I last posted anything on the Blog.  Sometimes live just happens, and we find ourselves with no motivation to keep doing what we really love. Anyway, it feels really great to be back, batteries are fully charged and I am ready to give my painting a big push this year. As you can see in the photo above, I painted a Mantic Games Ghoul. I think that the models are really cool, and the value for money is pretty amazing. You can find them HERE . I went for the blue kind of skin, but to be honest I am not convinced at all, so I will change the whole scheme and provably go for a classic pale rotting flesh colour. This miniature will be part of a gift for a friend as a part of a unit for his Vampire Counts army. I previously painted for him a mini conversion of a MOUNTED BLOOD DRAGON   for his birthday. En esta ocasión opté por una versión muy agrisada del personaje que creo que encaja muy bien con su trasfondo de mago corrupto en el intento de conseguir más poder para sí mismo. This time I went for a much greyer version as I thought that fits Saruman's background as a fallen wizard in his attempt of getting more power for himself. I placed as well a Palantir in his hand. The whole idea behind this project started in my mind like 3 years ago and was representing a band of orcs invading an imperial city. As you will be able to see on the base, there are some shields and swords. The forgeworld orcs are pretty amazing, with an insane level of detail. The banner for instance tested my nerves as there were thousands of little details to pay attention, as the skulls, symbols, bones... I tried to used really saturated colours with really primary yellows and reds. If you pay attention you will see that even the metallic parts have a good proportion of colour as well. One step closer to see these bad boys finished!!

Endless amount of details in this miniature, just when I think I finished one part I realize that I missed some part!! Really enjoyable though.
